For many working with and evaluating persons with disabilities, we have come to rely on some quality programs that offer a lot in the way of resources. As part of my career wellness focus, I thought a post about some of those resources would be helpful for those in need. Here are some of these resources. Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN)
The Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN) helps employers recruit, hire, retain and advance people with disabilities. In addition to hosting webinars and other events, EARN also maintains a website, AskEARN.org, which provides information on the following topics:
- recruiting
- hiring
- retention
- advancement
- laws
- regulations
- creating an accessible and welcoming workplace
- federal contractor requirements
The website also offers a variety of resources to assist state and federal government agencies in making their workforces more inclusive and reflective of the citizens they serve.
The LEAD Center The LEAD Center is a collaborative of disability, workforce and economic empowerment organizations led by National Disability Institute. The LEAD Center is dedicated to advancing sustainable individual and systems-level change to improve competitive, integrated employment and economic self-sufficiency for adults across the spectrum of disabilities.
NCWD/Youth The NCWD/Youth website houses numerous youth-focused resources, developed in collaboration with ODEP, including the Guideposts for Success and extensive information related to Career Development, Professional Development, and Youth Development and Leadership.
PEATWorks PEATWorks.org, a central hub for accessible technology-related tools and resources, including the latest PEAT research on the accessibility of online job applications and other e-recruiting technologies. PEATworks content is designed to help employers and the technology industry adopt and promote accessible technology as part of everyday business practices, for the benefit of all employers and workers.
Office of Disability Employment Check out the Office of Disability Employment website for the aforementioned resources. The U.S. Department of Labor, offers, amongst other things, a toolkit which is intended to help both employers and employees understand the return-to-work process and provides resources to assist in getting employees back on the job quickly and smoothly
Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs.
